‘The outstanding individual’: Sky Sports man blown away by Nottingham Forest new man, despite Henderson plaudits

Nottingham Forest won their first home Premier League game of the season as they saw off West Ham at the City Ground today.

Forest took the lead in the opening 45 minutes when Taiwo Awoniyi bundled into the net after Said Benrahma had seen a goal harshly ruled out for the Hammers just before. West Ham then had two efforts bounce off the bar and off the line, before Dean Henderson saved a Declan Rice penalty to make it Forest’s day on Trentside.

Of course, Forest did have plenty to shout about and there were some good performances on display from the Reds XI.

One of those players to really play well on the day was new signing, Lewis O’Brien. After arriving from Huddersfield, O’Brien has slotted in seamlessly at Forest. And Sky Sports‘ Andy Hinchcliffe believes O’Brien will be Forest’s key man this season.

“Lewis O’Brien has been the outstanding individual on Forest’s side. He will be influential all season,” Hinchliffe said on co-comms for Sky today.

O’Brien was given the MOTM award on Sky and he outshone players like Jesse Lingard and more, who were expected to be the big hitters for the Reds.

TBR’s View: O’Brien Always Going To Succeed At Forest

Such were his performances for Huddersfield that when Forest signed O’Brien, you always felt it was a signing that couldn’t fail.

And he was excellent against West Ham today. He was everywhere, putting his foot in and working hard but also calm and composed with the ball, helping Forest advance up the pitch when required.

Make no mistake, Steve Cooper has signed a gem in Lewis O’Brien and he proved today what a signing he’ll be for the Reds.
