Andy Halliday has told Open Goal that he believes Glen Kamara could be the one midfielder that leaves Rangers this summer if Steven Gerrard’s men are to bring in some cash for one of their players – and also discussed Alfredo Morelos’ future.

Morelos, 24, has proved his importance to Rangers in a different way this season. His goalscoring stats are not as good, but his hold-up play and contribution to his teammates has significantly improved – having a hand in 27 goals during his 35 games.

The Colombia international has scored 15 and created 12, but Halliday is confident that Morelos will want to stay and have a go at Champions League football. But the Hearts midfielder has identified Kamara as the player that could depart.

Ex-Arsenal man Kamara, who cost the club just £50,000, has been linked with numerous Premier League sides – and Halliday reckons that if he impresses for Finland at this summer’s European Championships, he could attract interest and leave.

“I think they will always look to improve, they might bring in a couple,” Halliday said. Asked if they can keep Alfredo Morelos, Halliday responded: “There is speculation on his future every window. They’ll do everything they can to keep him.

“Surely he would like to stay and have a crack at the Champions League? Then it puts his value up. If I have to say one leaves – other than [Steven] Davis and [Allan] McGregor who are out of contract – one that could potentially leave is Glen Kamara.

“I think that if he goes to the Euros, and has a good tournament, then there could be quite a few suitors for him. He is a brilliant player, an unbelievable player – but can he be replaced? Aye. They’ve got good options in midfield. Morelos is harder to replace.”

TBR’s view – Kamara should be kept, but every player has his price

Having won the title and enjoyed plenty of celebration with the Rangers fans, surely, the majority of Gerrard’s squad will want to stay at Ibrox and look to qualify for the Champions League group stages. Kamara is crucial to that.

He is one of a handful of Rangers players that is renowned for performing somewhat better in European matches than domestically. If he stays, surely he will be crucial in helping them impress in the Champions League.

But every player has his price. If Rangers receive a fee of £10million or more for Kamara, then it is an offer they should consider.
