Andy Gray has told BeIN Sports that Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale simply has to leave the Galacticos this summer, and urged him to return to Tottenham Hotspur.
It is widely known that returning Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and Bale do not get on. The Wales international endured a difficult spell under Zizou’s time in charge.
The Wales international’s time at the Bernabeu has not got better. Frustrated celebrations and being in and out of the side has left the ex-Southampton man annoyed. Even his agent Jonathan Barnett has criticised treament of Bale.
Now, well-known pundit Gray has told Bale that he would be wrong to stay at Real and sit on the bench. He urged him to return to the Premier League, saying “Go to Spurs”.
“He hardly played under Zidane, he was a sub most of the time,” Gray said. “He is at the age now where he needs to play football. He doesn’t want to sit on the bench at Real, no matter how iconic the club is.
“He doesn’t need money. He has got more money than he can spend for the rest of his life. If I was at a big club in England, I would be all over him right now. Go back to Spurs, why wouldn’t you go back to Spurs?
“Big, new stadium. Would Spurs spend the money? Daniel Levy might have to. Spurs will be interested, Manchester United might be as well. Take £250,000 a week, that is a £1million a month.”
If Bale wants to retain the reported £650,000 a week he earns at Madrid (The Sun), he can kiss his chances of a Premier League return goodbye.
But as Gray states, Bale should not be money motivated. If he is willing to reduce his wage requests and accept a figure in the region of £250,000, then the Premier League’s big guns will be keen.
Tottenham simply have to move for Bale. It would get fans back on side after another season that has fizzled out. He could be the marquee signing to go alongside their new ground.
