Andy Gray has told BeINSports that Everton manager Marco Silva could be sacked by the end of the month, claiming the Portuguese boss has two crucial games before an incredibly tough run of fixtures.
Just 11 points from 11 league games sees Everton sit way down in 17th place, scoring just 11 goals in that time. Cenk Tosun score an injury-time equaliser on Sunday afternoon as Everton came from behind to claim a point against Tottenham Hotspur.
Everton now take on Southampton on the south coast before the international break, before playing host to Norwich immediately after the break. Then, a difficult run of six games is next – a run that Everton may see The Toffees really struggle.
Everton face Leicester twice – in the league and League Cup – as well as Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool after their next two outings. Former Everton star Gray reckons Silva faces the sack if he does not pick up results in the next two games.
“When I look at Everton’s fixtures, I have to say I worry about Marco Silva,” Gray said. “His next two games – Southampton away and Norwich at home who are below them – then they have a colleciton of games against the top six.
“He [Silva] has got a massive three or four weeks coming up. On that form [Spurs draw], results will be hard to come by.”
TBR’s view – Should Everton have already sacked Silva?
Ronald Koeman was sacked about this time during the 2017-18 season, with Everton sitting in a similar position. So, with the international break notorious for clubs to sack managers, Silva has one game to save face.
Silva desperately needs to beat a struggling Southampton side that are in the relegation zone. Anything but a win against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side should see the Everton hierarchy axe former Watford boss Silva in the upcoming break.
