Rangers are reportedly on the verge of sealing a deal to sign a new goalkeeper. According to The Scottish Sun, Andy Firth is having a medical at Rangers ahead of a move to Glasgow.
Firth currently plays as a goalkeeper for National League side Barrow but Steven Gerrard knows him from their time together at Liverpool.
The 22-year-old was a youngster on Liverpool’s books when Gerrard was in the first-team and then when he returned to Merseyside as a coach.
Firth is ready to quit Barrow to team up with Gerrard at Ibrox, where he will be competing for the goalkeeper spot.
Rangers’ current first-choice is Allan McGregor, with Wes Foderingham in reserve.

And after a frustrating season between the sticks, Foderingham surely falls further down the pecking order with the arrival of Firth.
Having played just three times for the Gers this season, the 28-year-old’s future at Ibrox is unclear.
McGregor is clearly the preferred option in goal and Firth is probably being brought in as a back-up option with the potential to break into the team in the near future.
Firth’s arrival could push Foderingham out of the door. For the sake of his own career, it might be best if he departs.
