Rangers have been somewhat active in the last few days in regards to their own players, handing contracts out and sending number of players on loan – and Andy First has posted on Instagram after signing a new contract.
Jamie Barjonas has moved to Partick Thistle on loan, Jamie Murphy has moved down south to Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion, meanwhile Robbie McCrorie is expected to join Scottish Premiership side Livingston.
Goalkeeper Firth, 23, has signed a new deal at Ibrox to keep him at the club until the summer of 2021. His previous deal had seen him enter the final six months of his current contract, as he continues to act as third-choice goalkeeper.
Allan McGregor remains the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper while Wes Foderingham is back-up – the ex-Swindon Town man having played in the 2-0 win over Stranraer on the weekend. Firth posted on Instagram after signing a new deal.
Since joining Rangers in January 2019 from lowly English club Barrow, the former Liverpool youth player has managed just one senior appearance – a seven-minute substitute outing against Kilmarnock last season.
Rangers’ 2017-18 Player of the Season Daniel Candeias responded to Firth’s Instagram, having played alongside the goalkeeper for a matter of months before being sold by Steven Gerrard at the start of the season.
