Manchester United have had some unbelievable finishers over the years.

The likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and even Javier Hernandez were some of the best finishers in the Premier League in their heyday.

Speaking to ESPN on TikTok, Andy Cole has been asked to build his ultimate Premier League striker when it came to a number of attributes, and when it came to finishing, he picked two United stars.

Indeed, Cole couldn’t pick just one player for their finishing ability, claiming that he couldn’t separate both Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ruud van Nistelrooy could finish like Cristiano Ronaldo

Cole built his ultimate striker.

“Finishing?” Cole was asked.

“Ronaldo and Ruud,” Cole said.

“Strength?”

“Drogba” Cole said.

“Link up play?”

“Wazza” Cole said.

“Strength?”

“Wazza” Cole said.

What a finisher

Van Niselrooy certainly wasn’t as complete a player as Cristiano Ronaldo, but when he got a sniff at goal he was finding the back of the net.

Ronaldo was faster, stronger and more skilful, and that allowed him to get into more goalscoring positions and score more goals, but if you want the ball to fall to any player within the penalty area, it’s Van Nistelrooy.

The Dutchman just had this innate ability to finish any chance presented to him, and while he may not be the best striker in the history of the Premier League, he may well be the best pure finisher we’ve ever seen in the league.

Van Nistelrooy was probably the most reliable penalty box striker of the 2000s, and he continued to score goals at an incredible rate after leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid in a £10m deal.

Van Nistelrooy is certainly a legend of the game, and as Cole says, he’s one of the best finishers we’ve ever seen.
