Andrew Robertson and Kieran Tierney give Scotland brilliant headache

Scotland take on Albania in the UEFA Nations League this evening, hoping to put there 4-0 defeat to Belgium behind them. Scotland have plenty of improving to do under manager Alex McLeish.

There is undoubtedly some immense talent in the Scottish ranks. However, there is also one problem. Arguably the two best players Scotland have got both play in the same position.

Andrew Robertson of Liverpool and Kieran Tierney of Celtic are both top footballers. In the case of the Liverpool man, it is harder to think of a better left-back in Europe. Especially when it comes to the defensive part of his game, the Scotland captain might be better than any other left-back around.

Tierney, at just 21-years-old, is future star.

Liverpool and Celtic are of course happy to have them in their ranks. Scotland on the other hand just have to figure out how to accommodate both players.

England once had a similar problem with Wayne Bridge and Ashley Cole, although the Scottish pair are perhaps closer in talent than the English duo.

Liverpool’s Robertson probably has the edge at the moment regarding his favoured position. He has played in the Premier League for a number of years now and made it to the Champions League final last year.

Scotland are simply going to have to find a way to fit Tierney in another role.
