There has been plenty of talk this week regarding a potential Qatari takeover at Leeds United. Qatar Sports Investment, who own PSG, are reported by the Financial Times to be keen on buying a stake in the West Yorkshire club.
The report suggested that the investment could be used by Leeds to purchase another club. That would then allow Leeds to work as a sister club to that side. The report named the team he is interested in as Serie A side Genoa.
However, the talk of Qatari money has been played down since and as for the interest in Genoa, it has been rebuked.
Andrea Radrizzani has also made it clear to Il Secolo XIX that there is no interest in buying Genoa.
“Genoa is a great company but there has never been the possibility of a negotiation.”
Genoa fans, who are unhappy with the club’s current ownership, will be disappointed by this news. As for Leeds, fans would have undoubtedly appreciated more money coming through the club to help with player recruitment this summer.
But the partnership with Genoa was always a part of the story many found difficult to understand.
Fans at Leeds will be pleased that Radrizzani’s football club interests are not spread too thin.
