Any hope Leeds United might have of having a second bite of the cherry at the signature of French talent Michael Cuisance have taken a big knock as his current loan club Marseille eye up a permanent deal for next summer.
Leeds had a deal for the versatile central midfielder wrapped up. As reported by the Daily Mail, an £18 million deal for the Bayern Munich talent fell apart due to a problem on his medical.
Cuisance later rejected this notion and ended up heading to French side Marseille on a season-long loan deal.
Now, Marseille head coach Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that the Ligue 1 side fully intend to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

“I’m very happy with Cuisance,” AVB is quoted by Sport1. “He will likely play in Strasbourg (this weekend) and I hope that at the end of his loan we can activate his option to buy.”
Foot Mercato has previously reported that Marseille have an option to buy Cuisance for a fee of €18 million (£16.2m) next summer.
Leeds fans were excited to hear that the club were on the brink of bringing in Cuisance earlier this year and the club are arguably short in midfield because of the collapse of this deal.
Hearing that Marseille have every intention of making the deal permanent will, therefore, disappoint those Leeds fans still holding on to the hope that the Whites might be able to bring Cuisance in.
If he goes on to prove himself the talent many expect he is, whilst avoiding any injury trouble that must have spooked Leeds, this could end up being a missed opportunity.
