His time at Fratton Park was not a resounding success. Injury, unfortunately, scuppered his progress on the South Coast. He did still manage five goals in 12 games for the club and when his loan deal came to an end in January new Aston Villa manager Dean Smith decided to give him a chance. With Bolasie gone, there was certainly a gap in the squad.
Against Sheffield United on Friday night that certainly looked like a good move. Green scored the crucial equaliser as Aston Villa continue to stay in the play-off hunt.
