Since joining on loan from Barcelona, Andre Gomes has made an immediate impression at Goodison Park. Having overcome injury, he has now notched up five appearances and some are already talking about making the loan move a permanent one.
The Liverpool Echo have suggested that in doing so, they may have to make the Portuguese international the club’s highest paid player given the wages he is likely to be earning from La Liga champions Barcelona.
However, such talk remains hugely premature given the fact that Gomes is yet to prove what he can do on a consistent and regular basis for Marco Silva.

Gomes is the perfect fit for his compatriot’s style of play with his quality on the ball and ability to take his team forward when in possession but he has still only played five games for the Toffees.
Everton need to invest in order to get back to the heights that the club are aiming for, but spending so much money on one player’s wages may not be the smartest way to get to that objective.
In particular with his injury record under the microscope, Gomes still has a point to prove if he is to justify such an offer to try to persuade him to stay on Merseyside with the side in blue.
