Anderson and forgotten man Lanzini will be frightening together at West Ham

Felipe Anderson was the standout performer again for West Ham United on Saturday.

The Brazilian managed to score and assist during a 3-2 win at the London Stadium against Crystal Palace, which was the team’s third straight Premier League victory.

It was Anderson’s sixth goal and second assist of the campaign, and he appears to have really settled down now after an inconsistent first few weeks.

The £41.5 million signing from Lazio (initial £36 million and rising according to BBC Sport), was the marquee acquisition for Manuel Pellegrini during a very busy summer, and he’s finally showing why the club paid such money.

He’s clearly going to be a big player for West Ham in their pursuit of Europe, but he could reach even greater levels once Manuel Lanzini returns to the picture.

Lanzini and Anderson will be frightening

Lanzini is something of a forgotten man at West Ham.

The Argentine playmaker has been out of action since he picked up an anterior cruciate knee injury in June, which forced him to pull out of the World Cup.

Last month Lanzini posted a video of himself on a training pitch kicking a ball around, suggesting that his return could be sooner than expected.

It was initially feared that Lanzini would be out for the whole 2018/19 campaign, but he looks on course for a return in early 2019.

And once he’s back and hits top form, then he and Anderson could seriously propel West Ham up the Premier League table.

With Anderson operating to the left and Lanzini centrally, they could form a truly frightening understanding that Premier League defences will fear.

Anderson’s flair coupled with Lanzini’s creativity could make the Irons a force to be reckoned with.
