Anderlecht defender, Marco Kana, has hinted that he would be interested in a move to Liverpool in the future if he was to leave Belgium.

The teenager has broken into the first-team picture with Anderlecht this term and has made an appearance for the Belgium under-21s.

Already being compared to former Premier League legend, Vincent Kompany, the 18-year-old is said to open to leaving Belgium in the future and has told Walfoot that he ‘prefers Liverpool’.

“I would like to play abroad in a top or sub-top club. And then in the best English teams, preferably in the English top five. Currently, I prefer Liverpool. They really dominate everything.”

Kana has made five appearances this season for Anderlecht and, much like Kompany, is currently being deployed in a defensive midfield role when he does play.

However, he is also adept at fitting in at central defence and with Liverpool having numerous injury problems in that position this term, Kana could be someone who interests the Reds.

Of course, it helps Jurgen Klopp’s cause that Kana is already admiring Liverpool from afar.

One to watch but not for the here and now – TBR View

Long-term planning is a big part of the game for top clubs but Liverpool’s problems at the moment centre around sorting out the here and now aspect of their defence.

That means signing someone who can come straight into the fold and make a difference in the first XI. Unfortunately, Kana wouldn’t be that player just yet.

However, as a player for the future, Kana is certainly one Liverpool should watch. At just 18, he’s already playing regularly and that can only be a positive for the youngster’s career.
