Gary Neville has made his feelings clear about a comment made by Arsenal director Josh Kroenke at last week’s Gunners supporters’ forum.

Arsenal were one of the 12 European clubs in line to compete in the breakaway European Super League, a proposal which was met with unprecedented backlash.

Indeed, there was so much opposition to the idea that all six Premier League clubs involved withdrew from the prospective competition just two days after its inception.

Current Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has faced intense criticism since his initial arrival in 2007 ahead of becoming a majority shareholder four years later.

But for many Gunners fans, the ESL fiasco was the final straw, and led to protests at the Emirates Stadium last Friday to protest KSE’s running of the club.

Last week, Josh Kroenke told an Arsenal supporters’ forum that the “global fans” want to see Arsenal face the likes of Barcelona, whilst English fans “still want your cold nights in Stoke”.

In the latest episode of the Gary Neville Podcast, also uploaded on YouTube in video form, Martin Tyler told the Manchester United legend about Kroenke Jr’s “patronising” comments.

“Kroenke’s referenced a midweek trip to Stoke and English fans need that,” said Tyler. “And global fans want Arsenal against Barcelona every other week.

“That they were representing those – it’s patronising beyond belief.”

Neville replied: “Honestly, you are making me more angry, the more that you speak. Honestly, they are an absolute disgrace.

“Those three clubs (Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal) are the standard-bearers in English football, in terms of success and joy around the world.

“The hundreds of millions of fans around the world, who have watched those three clubs. And to be represented in such a fashion, honestly!”
