‘Among the transfers’: CEO confirms Arsenal-linked ‘pure No. 10’ can move clubs in January

Reported Arsenal target Christian Eriksen is likely to be on the move in January after his club’s chief executive confirmed he’s on the transfer list.

Il Corriere dello Sport – via Teamtalk – reported earlier this week that the Gunners are the most likely side to land the former Spurs ace on a loan deal next month.

The outlet reported that Inter have two players in mind they’d consider in a loan trade – Granit Xhaka or Dani Ceballos, whose loan from Real Madrid would effectively switch hands.

Eriksen has struggled to establish himself as a regular in the Inter line-up since joining for a reported £18million just under a year ago.

The Dane shone at Tottenham Hotspur, making 305 competitive appearances for Arsenal’s rivals and registering 69 goals and 89 assists.

However, the 28-year-old has made just 38 appearances for Inter in all competitions, with only 12 of those coming from the start, and just five starts all season.

Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta told Sky Sports – as quoted by BBC Sport – on Wednesday: “Eriksen is among the transfers.

“It’s not a punishment but he has struggled to settle into the squad… so it is right to give him the opportunity to find more space elsewhere.”

TBR View:

It’s not been a great 12 months for Eriksen, who has gone from being one of Spurs’ key players – so much so that Daniel Levy reportedly placed a £225million price tag on him two years ago (AS) – to a fringe player at Inter.

However, he is a very talented attacking midfielder – a “pure No. 10” and “a creative player” according to Andre Villas-Boas, who brought him to Spurs in 2013 – whose quality and proven Premier League experience is something Arsenal could do with at present.
