Amid exit rumours, it is clear Georges-Kevin Nkoudou's Tottenham career was an expensive failure
The Daily Mail claims that Georges-Kevin Nkoudou will be looking for a move away from Tottenham Hotspur in January, as the attacker is desperate to save his career.
Amid rumours of his exit, it is clear that Nkoudou’s time at Tottenham was an expensive failure.
Signed for £9 million from Marseille in 2016, the promising French winger penned a five-year deal at Spurs with high expectations.
A French U-21 international, Nkoudou’s potential appeared perfectly primed to be maximised by Mauricio Pochettino.
Fast forward two and a half years later, and the winger has played just 24 times for the Tottenham first team, scoring a solitary goal and providing one assist.
A loan spell at Burnley last season failed to bring much success, with the Frenchman making eight goalless appearances for the Clarets.
Nkoudou is still on Tottenham’s books for the 2018/19 campaign and has registered 27 total minutes all season — a brief cameo in Spurs’ League Cup victory against West Ham United.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou never made the grade at Tottenham Hotspur, failing to nail down consistent minutes and struggling for form.
In all, the 2016 decision to splash £9 million on the unproven winger was a profligate error.
