‘Amazing’, ‘very happy with this’: Some fans react as 21-year-old Spurs man joins on loan

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Spurs academy graduate Kazaiah Sterling has joined Southend on loan until January.

The 21-year-old will look to impress for a side hoping to make a swift return to League One following their relegation this year.

Sterling has come through the ranks at Spurs and has made two senior appearances to date, as well as making the matchday squad on two more occasions.

However, he has only clocked up 11 minutes of senior game time for Tottenham, with the bulk of his playing time in the navy and white having been at Under-23s level.

Sterling embarks on his fourth loan spell whilst on Spurs’ books, the forward having also played for Sunderland, Leyton Orient and Doncaster.

With his contract up next summer, it looks as though this spell could be one last chance to impress Jose Mourinho, or at least put himself in the shop window.

Southend fans seem by and large pleased to have Sterling on board, with some taking to Twitter to express their excitement:
