‘Amazing’… Pundit says 27-year-old Newcastle player is even better than Michael Olise

Newcastle United have been fantastic over the past 18 months.

The Magpies finished in the top four last season, and while this term hasn’t quite gone to plan due to an unprecedented injury crisis, the Tyneside club still have some truly incredible players on their books.

Indeed, the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman and Alexander Isak are all incredible players, but speaking on ESPN, Don Hutchison has spared some special praise for Joelinton.

Hutchison was asked to name which player outside of the top six has impressed him the most, and he named Joelinton, ahead of the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

Hutchison hails Joelinton

The pundit spoke highly of the Brazilian.

“Outside the top six? Do you know what I’m going to say Joelinton. He was ridiculed but Eddie Howe has turned him into one of the best number eights in the country. He’s been amazing, Newcastle are a different side, he changes Newcastle, Eze and Olise are two brilliant players, but if I’m in the minority saying Joelinton over those two guys, I’ll stick by my guns,” Hutchison said.

Incredible

The fact that Joelinton is being discussed in these terms is remarkable after his slow start to life at Newcastle.

Let’s not forget, Joelinton was seen as a bit of a flop when he first arrived at St James’ Park as a striker, but since working with Eddie Howe and changing positions he’s been incredible.

Joelinton genuinely has an argument for being the best player outside of the top six, and Newcastle are very lucky to have him.
