‘Amazing’ player who’s out of Euro 2024 knows that Arsenal want to sign him this summer

Arsenal are yet to make a move in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with a plethora of new midfield players and new attackers, but, interestingly, their first signing of the summer could now be a centre-back.

Indeed, Riccardo Calafiori has been linked with a move to Arsenal as of late, and according to Charles Watts, writing in his column for Caught Offside, the player himself knows that Arsenal are interested in signing him.

According to Watts, Arsenal have expressed their interest in Calafiori, so much so that both Bologna and the player himself are aware of the Gunners’ intent.

Calafiori is coming off the back of a fantastic season for Bologna, but the Serie A club won’t be keen to sell the £40m man.

Indeed, Bologna are already resigned to losing Joshua Zirkzee this summer, and after qualifying for the Champions League, they won’t be in a rush to weaken their squad to such an extent ahead of a massive season.

Calafiori’s head could be turned

Calafiori knows that Arsenal want to sign him, and how he reacts to this realisation will be interesting.

With all due respect to Bologna and Serie A as a whole, a move to one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League will surely appeal at this point.

Calafiori is coming off the back of the best season of his career, and while he may kick on, the reality is that these sorts of big moves don’t come around very often.

Calafiori’s head may be turned by the chance to move to a club like Arsenal, and he could well begin to kick up a fuss in order to force through a move to the Emirates.

Arsenal haven’t done any business so far this summer, but they could be about to click into gear and get the wheels turning to get a deal done for the ‘amazing’ defender.
