‘Amazing news’: Some fans react after signing Liverpool prospect with ‘exceptional quality’

Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria has left Anfield for Reading in a permanent move, and some of their fans have expressed their delight in finally buying the Reds academy ace.

The 22-year-old left Liverpool to return to the Madejski Stadium on loan last summer, where he impressed in his 36 Championship appearances in 2019-20, claiming three goals and five assists.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the Reds agreed a fee of around £3.5million last year for Ejaria, to be paid this summer, along with a 20 percent sell-on clause.

There appeared to be a stumbling block earlier this month, the Merseyside outlet claiming Reading were struggling to complete the transfer due to financial complications.

However, the clause in that deal has now been triggered and Ejaria has officially joined the Berkshire side.

The player has signed a four-year contract and becomes the Royals’ second recruit of the summer following the arrival of Josh Laurent.

“Naturally, everybody at the club is delighted to have got this transfer over the line and it is a deal our owner, Mr Dai, was very keen to see completed as soon as was possible,” said Reading boss Mark Bowen.

“Ovie has shown everyone his exceptional quality in the time he has spent here on loan and I’m sure all our supporters are excited to see him continue to impress as a Royal during the course of the next four years.”
