‘Amazing’: Manager delighted to sign ‘incredible’ player Tottenham let go for free this summer

Portsmouth have completed the signing of goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi after his release from Tottenham Hotspur.

The stopper has taken the next step in his career having seen his Spurs career come to an end, leaving as a free agent.

Pompey boss Danny Cowley is thrilled to have brought the youngster to Fratton Park as he looks to gain promotion out of League 1.

He told the club’s official website just how pleased he is to have landed Olumayemi, who has signed a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

“Josh had a great footballing education with Tottenham and has amazing athleticism,” Cowley told Portsmouth’s official website.

“There is plenty of potential and he is exactly the sort of promising player that our club is looking to sign.

“He’s an incredible shot-stopper and is also good with his feet, so we’re delighted to bring him to the club.

Oluwayemi has previously been called up to represent Nigeria at senior level, despite his lack of league club experience.

He has played for Tottenham in the EFL Trophy and also has had a spell in non-league on loan at Maidstone.

Perhaps some Spurs fans will be watching his progress on the south coast with interest as he looks to establish himself as a first team goalkeeper.
