Tottenham Hotspur icon Gareth Bale was back at N17 for Monday night’s Premier League encounter with Chelsea.
The Welshman made 236 competitive appearances for Spurs over two spells, registering 71 goals and 58 assists.
Bale was a special guest for Tottenham on the night and, at half-time, he addressed fans about his love for the club.
“The best thing I ever did was move to Tottenham,” he said, as per the Daily Mail. “I still remember it like it was yesterday.
“It’s great to be back in front of these amazing fans – it’s definitely like coming home.”

Bale retired from professional football at the start of the year after an outstanding career as one of the most successful British players of all time.
Throughout his career, the 34-year-old won a multitude of trophies including five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.
Spurs legend
Bale was also at Tottenham when they won their last major trophy, the 2008 League Cup.
When he moved from Spurs to Real Madrid in 2013, the £85million fee Tottenham received was a world record at the time.
Bale managed to catch one of the most chaotic and dramatic Premier League matches of all time live at N17.
Sadly, it didn’t go Tottenham’s way, as they finished the game on the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat by Chelsea.
Spurs also finished the game with nine men and with two other key players having to come off injured.
Tottenham had opened the scoring early on through Dejan Kulusevski’s effort that deflected off Levi Colwill.
However, Cole Palmer equalised from the penalty spot on 35 minutes after Cristian Romero’s red card for fouling Enzo Fernandez.
Then, in the second half, Destiny Udogie was also sent off, for a second yellow card after a late challenge on Raheem Sterling.
Although Tottenham tried to hang on after going down to nine, Chelsea ended up breaking their resistance in the 75th minute.
Sterling timed his run to receive Reece James’ pass before squaring the ball for Nicolas Jackson to tap in.
Jackson went on to score twice more in second-half injury time to add gloss to the scoreline.
