Gabriel Jesus has lauded Kai Havertz after Arsenal beat Brighton at the Emirates Stadium today.

The Gunners picked up a 2-0 win over the Seagulls after dominating for large periods of the game.

Mikel Arteta’s men pressed relentlessly but were unable to find a breakthrough in the first half.

Gabriel Martinelli went close after some brilliant work from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka down the right-hand side.

Arsenal eventually found two well-deserved goals in the second half through Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

Speaking after today’s win, Jesus singled out Havertz for praise while admitting he was delighted with Arsenal’s performance.

“It’s not only about the result, the way we played, the way we controlled them,” he said. “They have a good team. It was amazing.

“Kai is an amazing player, so strong and tall, his quality, he helps us a lot. We’re very happy we have him.

“Everyone knows about City’s quality. We have to focus on our game. It’s not only City in the Premier League.

“Liverpool are playing so well and Villa are playing amazing. We have to focus on us.”

Havertz is certainly rediscovering his confidence in front of goal and is proving to be an important part of Arteta’s squad.

The German received plenty of criticism during the early stages of the campaign after a slow start to life in North London. But the 24-year-old has netted three goals in his last five Premier League games from midfield.

Many were doubtful of Havertz’s ability to play in the middle of the park in Arteta’s side. But he is proving many of his doubters wrong at the moment.
