Arsenal legend Ian Wright has criticised goalkeeper Bernd Leno for his error in Friday night’s Premier League defeat at the hands of Everton.
The Gunners were in action at the Emirates Stadium in a game that was preceded by fan protests outside the ground calling for the club’s current owners to sell up.
Arsenal were awarded a penalty early in the second half when Dani Ceballos went down in the box under a challenge from Richarlison.

However, the decision was reversed after a check by VAR showed that Nicolas Pepe was offside, a call which angered Mikel Arteta post-match.
Everton went on to claim all three points through a bad error from Leno, who let a weak cross from Richarlison slip through his fingers and into the net off his heel.
“He does have spells where he’s very good,” Wright said on the Optus Sport post-game show.
“But we’ve seen him rush out and get sent off, give away penalties and give the ball away. He has those moments and that, for me was a real moment.
“Poor goalkeeping. It seems amateurish and I think that comes down to concentration.”
TBR View:
Leno has looked off the boil for a while now, and his error against Everton suggests he could do with being taken out of the firing line for a couple of games.
Mat Ryan has done well when he’s played, but you can’t help but wonder what things would’ve been like if Emiliano Martinez had not been sold to Aston Villa.
