Amad Diallo was the hero for Manchester United today as he won it in extra-time against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final.
Diallo’s late winner, a scuffed shot past Caoimhin Kelleher in the Liverpool goal, sent Old Trafford wild.
The goal means United now have another Wembley date to look forward to and could well set up an all Manchester final in the capital.

But speaking after the game about his goal, Diallo revealed that things might had been different had he gone with his first instinct.
Amad Diallo says he nearly passed before scoring the winner for Manchester United v Liverpool
Speaking to the BBC after the game, Diallo shared that he had initially thought about giving the ball back to Alejandro Garnacho.
“Dream come true. That goal will give me a lot of confidence and I want to continue like this. I’m very happy. The most important thing is to win this game. I wanted to give it back to Garnacho but I see the defender and I have to go on my own. It is unbelievable, it is a dream for me to score the last goal for Manchester United. I want to say thanks to the supporters. It is one of the best games of the season so we want to continue like this,” Diallo said.
Diallo gets his moment
It’s been a long time coming for Amad Diallo but in the end, boy was it worth it.
After a stunning season with Sunderland last season, United fans have been hoping to see more of Diallo and they might just get that after this cameo today.
Of course, his red card won’t do him any favours. But in getting the goal like he did and playing such a part in a massive win, Diallo has shown Erik ten Hag he has it in him.
This really did feel massive for both United and Diallo today. Going into the final few months and then next season, United might well feel like they’ve got a new signing.
