'Always': West Ham's Declan Rice makes claim about what's happened to Leeds fans recently
Declan Rice has claimed that Leeds United fans have become friends with West Ham United supporters this summer on the official England podcast.
Leeds and West Ham supporters always seem to be embroiled in debates over who is better out of Phillips and Rice.
Both sets of supporters are understandably keen to champion their own player.
But with England performing so well at Euro 2020 there seems to have been somewhat of a truce between Leeds and West Ham supporters.
The two sets of fans are now regularly hailing both of England’s midfield pair.
And Rice has noticed a definite chance in stance from many fans.
“Me and Kalv, it’s ledge because a lot of people write us off or, for some reason, a lot of people always compare us between Leeds and West Ham fans” he said.
“But I feel like now this summer Leeds and West ham fans have actually connected together and become friends!
“Me and Kalv have always been great friends. I love playing with him, you see how good he is for Leeds.
“Every time there is something on social media we send it to each other on WhatsApp and we like buzz over it.
“We are really good mates and I want him to succeed as much as I want myself to succeed.”
Rice and Phillips have been a huge part of England’s success at Euro 2020 so far.
The Three Lions are yet to decide a goal and part of the reason for that is down to the excellent cover that the duo have given their defence.
Rice has consistently broken up attacks, while Phillips has been given licence to roam forward slightly more freely.
England will now be relying on the pair to continue their good form, with both set to start in Gareth Southgate’s side’s semi-final clash with Denmark on Wednesday.
