Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has singled out Giovani Lo Celso for praise despite defeat to Aston Villa today.
Postecoglou was speaking after the game and praised Lo Celso’s creativity along with his goal.

The manager was speaking via journalist Alasdair Gold who shared the comments on X.
And he was quick to focus on some positives: “I thought Gio did really well today in the role we had him.
“He was creative and scored a good goal, he was always threatening and he worked hard.
“He hasn’t played a lot of football. The reality of it is that we’re not going to get too many back.”
Although usually deployed at attacking midfield, Postecoglou seemed to task Lo Celso with a deeper role for Tottenham today.
Yves Bissouma was suspended and Pape Matar Sarr injured, and the manager decided to overlook the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Rodrigo Bentancur was having a fine game alongside £27m Lo Celso before his game was sadly cut short due to another issue.
And Postecoglou has also now provided an update on that injury.
Ange Postecoglou was very impressed with Giovani Lo Celso for Tottenham
Although it’s now three defeats from three for Spurs, it was a strong performance on the day.
Despite conceding chances, Postecoglou’s side certainly had their fair share of their own.

The offside flag proved to be the enemy of Son Heung-Min, who could have had a hat-trick on a different day.
And although it will be a frustrating end to the month for Spurs fans, there really is still a lot to be excited about.
A trip to Manchester City is particularly untimely, though, and it will be interesting to see if Postecoglou alters his high-line.
Although impressed by Lo Celso sitting deep today, Postecoglou must surely take a more reserved approach with his Tottenham side for such a trip.
Had Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven been available, the side would have added security sticking to their principles, but with the personnel available right now they could be exposed.
And one Tottenham defender in particular is now causing concern.
