'Always looked alert': £60k-a-week Liverpool ace lauded for display v Palace
Liverpool ace Kostas Tsimikas delivered another impressive display for Jurgen Klopp’s side on Saturday.
The 25-year-old has been getting plenty of game time for the Reds this season and is doing very well.
Tsimikas’ maiden season at Liverpool proved difficult as he suffered injuries early on in the campaign.
In addition, it wasn’t the best year for a Premier League newcomer to find his feet at Anfield.
With Liverpool beset by injuries to key players last year, they struggled to challenge for the title.
Indeed, they had to battle just for a top-four finish.
And with Andrew Robertson so consistently brilliant, you can understand why Klopp might have stuck with him.
On Saturday, Tsimikas was in the starting XI against Crystal Palace at Anfield, with Robertson on the bench.
And the £60,000-a-week left-back put in a great display en route to a 3-0 win over the Eagles.
The Liverpool Echo gave him 7 out of 10 and wrote: “Not an easy time coping with Ayew defensively but pressed forward regularly and corner deliveries prompted the first two goals.”
The Independent also gave Tsimikas a 7 and wrote: “Settling into Jurgen Klopp’s defence nicely. Always looked alert.”
And Whoscored gave him 7.8, noting that he made four key passes in the game, as well as three tackles, three clearances, one interception and one blocked shot, plus 11 crosses, of which six were accurate.
Finally, Tsimikas is showing what he’s capable of, and Liverpool fans will be delighted knowing they have two amazing left-backs in their ranks.
