Ally McCoist has urged Rangers manager Steven Gerrard to stay at Ibrox amid reported interest from Newcastle United.
According to the Telegraph, the Gers boss could be a potential target for Newcastle this summer for their vacant managerial position following the exit of Rafael Benitez.
The Daily Record has also reported that Derby County have looked at appointing Gerrard and have offered him an £8million bonus to take charge.
Gerrard has done enough to impress suitors during one year in charge in Scotland, but has pledged his future to the Light Blues.
“Yes I’m aware of it (Derby interest) but there’s nothing to say on it,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m very happy here, it’s a privilege to be the Rangers manager. My focus is on the up and coming season.
McCoist has claimed that the 39-year-old boss should stay where he is even if Newcastle come calling for him this summer.
He believes that Gerrard has “unfinished business” with the Gers after a second-placed finish in the league last season.
“Good managers and good coaches get headhunted,” McCoist told talkSPORT.
“I think Rangers are a bigger club [than Newcastle]. Newcastle play in a far better league, but that’s the way I see it at this moment in time.
“I’m not sure right now it would be a great move for Steven Gerrard to be honest with you because he certainly has unfinished business at Rangers.”

TBR’s View:
Whoever replaces Benitez at Newcastle next season is walking into a minefield and it’s set to be a hostile atmosphere at St James’ Park.
Gerrard should want to manage in the Premier League and has made no secrets about one day returning to his boyhood club Liverpool.
But he’s developing nicely as a manager after one year in charge at Ibrox and it wouldn’t make much sense for him to ditch that now.
Gerrard should continue working with Rangers for the foreseeable future, as his reputation continues to grow and he earns vital experience with a team he is building.
