Arsenal have come close to the Premier League title in the last two seasons, and there’s a real sense of optimism that this year will belong to the Gunners.

The north London side haven’t spend as wildly as they have in previous windows, with Riccardo Calafiori the only signing Mikel Arteta has made so far as Arsenal continue to chase Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

With the senior squad fully fit heading into Saturday’s opener against Wolves, Arsenal are as prepared as they can be ahead of the first Premier League game of the season at the Emirates Stadium.

And Ally McCoist has tipped one Arsenal star to be the Premier League Player of the Season this term.

Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard tipped for top Premier League accolade

Speaking on TalkSport, the Scottish football legend predicted Martin Odegaard to win the Premier League Player of the Season award, with McCoist also backing Arsenal to go all the way and win the title.

With Odegaard nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award, the Norwegian international winning the Premier League’s Player of the Season award is a firm possibility for the former Real Madrid star if Arsenal can go the distance and win the championship.

And for McCoist, Odegaard will be key on this journey, with the Arsenal captain enjoying two incredible seasons for the Gunners having established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

McCoist said when asked who his pick for Premier League Player of the Season is: “I am going to go for Odegaard, who I think is a wonderful football player. He’s really easy to watch, drifts, makes himself space, intelligent use of the ball, great vision, and I am going to go for him as my Player of the Year.”

Odegaard will be hell-bent on winning the Premier League title this season

Having come so close to winning the league last year, Odegaard will be more driven than any other Arsenal player to ensure that the north London side beat Manchester City to the title next season.

Arsenal have come leaps and bounds in the last few years under Arteta, with Odegaard growing up alongside the team and developing into one of the best in the planet as a result.

And heading into the new season, the Norwegian superstar will want to bring an end to Arsenal’s wait for a Premier League title, with Odegaard hell-bent on bringing the championship back to north London.
