Ally McCoist thinks Tottenham still want another key signing after Radu Dragusin

Ally McCoist has now given his thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur’s remaining transfer plans after deals for Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin.

It’s undoubtedly been a phenomenal start to the window for Spurs, who look to have achieved two of their key targets promptly.

Moreover, with it now looking like Eric Dier could depart to Bayern Munich, there could be additional funds available.

It was thought that Tottenham would move for a midfielder after securing a defender and forward.

However, Ally McCoist thinks Tottenham should target a striker following Dragusin’s arrival.

Speaking with Alan Brazil on talkSPORT this morning, the pundit wasn’t convinced that Werner should play centrally.

After the Dragusin update, Brazil asked: “Ally, does this look like another assured signing from Spurs?”

McCoist: “Yes, absolutely. I mean Spurs started brilliantly, strengthening defensively.

“But clearly, I think their priority is still another one, believe it or not, centre-forward, putting Werner out on the left-hand side in place of Son [Heung-min].”

Ally McCoist thinks Tottenham should sign a striker after Radu Dragusin deal

Whilst it’s hard to argue with the merits of McCoist’s words, it may be best for Spurs to wait until the summer for their marquee striker signing.

Ange Postecoglou decided against a high-profile replacement for Harry Kane in the summer, preferring to spread responsibility throughout his squad.

And with Werner arriving on a loan deal with a buy option, it makes sense to assess his impact for the next six months.

Tottenham will have a better idea of the striker they need after the season, and they may also have more funds to chase a top target.

McCoist is right to suggest that Werner will fare better out wide – he does have a similar profile to Richarlison in some ways.

And although neither look at their best centrally, they should be able to cope whilst Son is at the Asian Cup.

As McCoist states, getting Dragusin through the door could be a brilliant move for Tottenham.

And with so much left of the window to go, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the club made another move.

That being said, a striker will probably be ready and waiting for the summer.
