Ally McCoist says striker who’s started just one game for Real Madrid is even better than Darwin Nunez

Liverpool beat Real Madrid on Wednesday evening in what was an incredible performance by the Reds.

Indeed, the Merseyside club put on a show against their great European rivals, finally beating Real Madrid for the first time after a 15 year wait.

Madrid and Liverpool have often faced off on the biggest of stages, and, usually, Real Madrid come out victorious.

However, while Liverpool may have won this game, there’s still a debate to be had about which team is better.

Speaking to Mail Sport on TikTok, Ally McCoist has been building his combined XI made up of Liverpool and Real Madrid players, and he made an interesting choice in this team.

Ally McCoist picks Endrick over Darwin Nunez

McCoist picked a very balanced team made up of stars from both Madrid and Liverpool.

However, he was given something of a conundrum when he had to pick his striker.

McCoist was asked to pick between Endrick and Darwin Nunez.

Endrick has only started one game for Real Madrid since joining the club in the summer, but, despite his lack of experience, McCoist picked the teenager ahead of Nunez.

Ally McCoist’s Liverpool vs Real Madrid combined XI

Of course, it’s early days for Endrick in his career, but based on the stats this season, you can see why McCoist has chosen him over Nunez.

Endrick may not play often, but when he does come onto the pitch, he makes an impact. His minutes per goal record is remarkable, and is certainly superior to Nunez’s.

Nunez has been criticised recently for his patchy form for Liverpool.

As for the rest of McCoist’s team, there were some straightforward choices here and some difficult picks too.

McCoist picked Thibaut Courtois in goal ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher with Alisson out injured, while the back four was made up purely of Liverpool players.

It’s a Madrid-centric midfield for McCoist, but Mohamed Salah did manage to get into the attack alongside Endrick and Kylian Mbappe.

Peter Crouch recently picked Mbappe over Salah, but McCoist has both players in his team here.

Perhaps the team would look slightly different if Diogo Jota and Vinicius Jr were fit and available, but that is still a very strong team that would probably sweep every trophy available if they were put together.
