Ally McCoist says Nuno Santo should snub reported Arsenal interest to stay at Wolves

Arsenal are keen on Wolves manager Nuno Santo to replace Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

But TalkSport pundit Ally McCoist is unsure whether Santo would give up his job at Molineux, where he is on the verge of taking Wolves into the knockout rounds of the Europa League, for the Gunners.

He said of Santo: “I don’t think I’m moving if I’m him. You would need guarantees because Arsenal defensively are all over the place.

“I just don’t think he would fancy that right now. He’ll think there’s a little bit of unfinished business to be done at Wolves because they are absolutely flying. Manchester United and Arsenal are miles away from competing in the league.”

TBR’s View – Santo is so key to the Wolves project it’s hard to see him leaving

Santo was Jorge Mendes’ first client when he was a player and the pair are so integral to what Wolves are building there.

It’s tough to see him throwing a carefully constructed project away – where he is comfortable with the setup and the staff – for another team in the Europa League where the pressure is enormous and the squad needs further changes.

Santo is a manager on the rise and his next move after Wolves will be crucial. Arsenal doesn’t feel like the right move right now.
