Ally McCoist has responded to a Leeds United supporter on Laura Woods’ Sports Breakfast TalkSPORT Show (09:15am, Tuesday) that no team should be given handed reward – without achieving it.
Leeds currently sit at the top of the Championship table by a point, one ahead of West Brom but perhaps more importantly, seven ahead of third-placed Fulham. There are nine league games still to play in England’s second tier.
There has been plenty of talk over how to cope with the suspension of football due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Voiding the current campaign, finish the season, or end the season as it stands – putting Leeds’ campaign into doubt.
Brad, a Leeds United supporter, phoned in on Tuesday morning to state that the season must be completed in order for Leeds to be given the chance to finally return to the Premier League after 16 years – and McCoist responded.

“You can’t give someone something they haven’t yet achieved,” McCoist said. “You can’t punish somebody for something that hasn’t happened. I do take Brad’s point, if there is anyway at all possible, to finish the season. That being said, I am really against playing games behind closed doors.
