Arsenal have found themselves the subject of a bit of a spat among pundits and fans in recent days following the Gunners’ win over Liverpool last week.
Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners over Jurgen Klopp‘s Reds at the Emirates Stadium to drag themselves back into Premier League title contention.
At full-time, the Gunners celebrated emphatically in wake of claiming such a big league victory, which led to criticism from Jamie Carragher.
“Just get down the tunnel,” the pundit said on Sky Sports, as transcribed by talkSPORT.
“You’ve won a game, three points. They’ve been brilliant, back in the title race… get down the tunnel.”

There wasn’t much let-up from Carragher thereafter. The Liverpool icon even changed his X profile picture to that of Martin Odegaard taking a picture with a cameraperson’s equipment.
TalkSPORT’s Ally McCoist has stepped in to defend Arsenal and criticise Carragher, suggesting he’s wrong to complain about the Gunners’ post-match celebrations.
“In terms of Jamie Carragher, I think he is wrong,” said the popular pundit. “I think Arsenal and Arteta are well within their rights to celebrate.
“Whether they thought they over-celebrated, it doesn’t matter. It was a big result for them and they are entitled to celebrate with their fans.”
Nothing wrong with Arsenal celebrating a big victory – TBR View
This is one of those things that will have loads of people giving loads of different opinions, so while we’re on the subject, I might as well do that here.
Personally, I think after all the work that the Arsenal players have put in over the course of the week, the 90-plus minutes on the pitch in which they dominated a title rival, and what the outcome means for the Gunners, if they want to really celebrate, then why the hell not?
Obviously everyone within the Arsenal camp will regroup and move onto the next one, and they’re professionals at the very top of the game, so of course they’ll do that.
For the sake of 5-10 minutes of celebrating on the pitch right after the game, it’s a bit daft to complain, but then again, Carragher did just see his team handed a serious blow in the title race so you can understand why he’s complaining.
