It was another nightmare Premier League day at the office for Leeds United as they were swept aside by Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side at Elland Road last night.
The masterful Philippe Coutinho was once again at the heart of things for the Villans. The Brazilian midfielder was on song once more to help Villa easily brush past Jesse Marsch’s side. Goals from Coutinho, and the equally impressive Cash and Chambers sealed the 3-0 win.

For Leeds, there is plenty for Marsch to work on. Not least in terms of their attacking play, which is looking a shadow of what it was with Patrick Bamford struggling for fitness. And commentating on the game for BT Sport, legendary Scottish striker, Ally McCoist, picked up on how much Spanish striker Rodrigo was struggling.
“I don’t know about you Steve but I can sense a bit of frustration from the Leeds United fans around Rodrigo. I feel for him a little bit. He’s just looking as if there’s no confidence there at this moment in time. And of course when you can sense that from the fans, it won’t be doing him too many favours,” McCoist said on commentary in the 32nd minute.
Rodrigo has not lived up to his £26m fee since signing. He has just the three goals this season, while he only notched seven times last term under Marcelo Bielsa.
TBR’s View: Rodrigo Not The Player He Was At Valencia
Leeds fans would probably tell you that, in the main, they’ve been disappointed with Rodrigo since he came. Sure, he’s shown the odd flash of brilliance but that’s not enough really. Especially when the team needs him with Bamford out.
Addressing the striking options could be a big task for Jesse Marsch this summer. That is, of course, if he gets the time to do so.
