Allan Saint-Maximin success should see Newcastle supporters love Said Benrahma

The Brentford man has been linked with a summer switch to the Magpies.

Newcastle United are one of several clubs mentioned as holding a summer interest in Brentford star Said Benrahma (Northern Echo).

The Bees value the trickster at £30 million but if they fail to win promotion there is every possibility that they might allow him to leave for less than that.

The Magpies signed three attractive signings in January with Danny Rose, Valentino Lazaro and Nabil Bentaleb all checking in.

Steve Bruce will hope to add more players in the summer though and Benrahma looks like he could be an attractive signing.

The 24-year-old netted his ninth goal of the season against Leeds this week and he also has six assists to his name.

An Algerian international, Benrahma could actually boast a similar wow-factor to that of Allan Saint-Maximin who arrived last summer.

Although the £16.5 million signing from Nice perhaps doesn’t have as many goals or assists as he would have liked at this stage of the season, it’s fair to say he has entertained supporters so far.

Benrahma possesses similar qualities. Both players are quick, both boast an array of skills and both are capable of producing something out of nothing,

Perhaps more crucially, in tandem Benrahma and Saint-Maximin could be a frightening proposition.

Although the Algerian hasn’t played in the Premier League before, at 24 there is still plenty of time for him to become a success in the top-flight.

Flair

Newcastle supporters have never demanded a team that wins every single week but what they do expect is hard-work and players who are willing to get supporters out of their seats.

Benrahma would complement Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron and it’s fair to suggest he’d see plenty of first-team action at St James’ Park.

Arsenal might be a bigger club, with more prospects of European football in the future but he might be in and out of the team at the Emirates Stadium.

Newcastle and Benrahma could be perfect for each other and he’d be an exciting addition if Bruce can win the race.
