Newcastle United winger, Allan Saint-Maximin, has said that Manchester City’s Kyle Walker is ‘easily’ the best defender has come up against in his career so far.

Saint-Maximin is well used to taking on defenders. More often than not, he is untroubled by anyone in the full-back area and regularly finds his way past defenders in the Premier League.

However, the Newcastle star has admitted that he finds playing against the Manchester City star tough going. In an interview for the Premier League’s YouTube channel, the Frenchman was full of praise for City star Walker.

“Kyle Walker. Easily. For sure. He’s really good. Quick, strong. He has everything,” Saint-Maximin commented.

Walker has proved to be a remarkable signing by City. They paid an eye-watering £53m for him back in 2017 but he has since been exceptional.

Pep Guardiola has lauded him more than once, and he has made the right-back slot his own in Manchester. It’s little wonder, then, that Saint-Maximin admires him so much.

There’s been times when Kyle Walker has looked shaky as a defender. There has even been times when some have questioned his levels.

But he’s been at City for five years or so now and is consistently one of the best players in the team. And in a team of such talent, that’s quite an achievement.

Saint-Maximin can take on any defender. But he recognises talent too and Walker is certainly up there. When the two teams meet this season, it should be quite the battle.
