Newcastle United forward Allan Saint-Maximin has vowed to ‘kill’ defenders in one-on-one situations going forwards.
The maverick winger has enjoyed a mixed start to life at his new club, following a £16.5 million summer transfer from Nice.
He has undoubtedly brought a bit of life and effervescence to the Newcastle team – his desire to carry the ball and run at every opportunity is evidence of that.

But so far he has no goals or assists to show for all his flamboyance.
Saint-Maximin isn’t concerned though, and had a strong warning for top-flight full-backs.
Speaking in an interview with the Telegraph, he said: “I am learning all the time. As a team, we are working on how to get me on the ball higher up the pitch, how to get me one on one with a defender because if that happens, I will kill them.

“You get me one against one, I will do a lot of damage.
“Defenders should be scared of me. I am fast and technical. They have to be careful, but it is what I have said to the manager, let them come to me, I will pass to my partners.”
TBR’s view – Saint-Maximin must match style with substance
There has been plenty to like about the French star so far, but Newcastle need more from him in terms of goals and assists.

Those things are bound to come though, so long as Saint-Maximin keeps his head down and keeps working hard.
He is a rough diamond at the moment and with time, defenders could fear him.
