Leicester City Under-23s boss Steve Beaglehole has waxed lyrical about Foxes academy midfielder Sammy Braybrooke, saying the 18-year-old has “all the qualities that you need” and could well go to the top.
Braybrooke has come through the ranks at the King Power Stadium and made his first start for the Development Squad in Monday night’s Premier League 2 encounter with high-flying Derby.
With a number of Under-23s potentially in contention for Brendan Rodgers’ senior side in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, Beaglehole opted to promote several youngsters for the game against the Rams.

And Braybrooke put in a superb performance, earning praise from LCFC TV commentator Matt Elliott, who described him as a “good little footballer” and said he stood out amongst his peers.
And despite Leicester’s U23s losing 2-1, Beaglehole was eager to look at the positives, with Braybrooke coming in for plenty of praise.
“The shining light was Sammy Braybrooke,” he told the Leicester media team. “I thought he was excellent.
“He’s a young player and obviously he’s got a lot of physical development to come. But I thought he was superb, brave on the ball, brave out of possession, one of his free kicks was magnificent, a dinked ball.
“I think we might see another player coming through from the academy in future years and if he continues like that, he has a chance of playing up there with the best, because he showed all the qualities that you need.”
TBR View:
Braybrooke may still be in the early stages of his footballing career, but the praise sent his way from Elliott and Beaglehole is very high indeed.
As such, he’s a player that fans will eagerly keep an eye on to see how he progresses in the coming years – fingers crossed he achieves his potential.
