Chris Sutton has delivered his verdict on Brendan Rodgers after Celtic lost to Hearts at Parkhead this afternoon.
As Celtic followed up their defeat against Kilmarnock with another against the capital club, the former Celtic hero made no bones about what he thinks about the kind of football he is watching from the Celtic manager.
Sutton posted on social media channel X, “You can blame the board, you can blame the lack of atmosphere because of the Green Brigade not being at matches, you can blame the recruitment but ultimately Brendan Rodgers should be doing much better with the players he has at his disposal… it’s been bang average all season.”
Sutton is just echoing the boos that were heard ringing around Celtic Park as the full-time whistle sounded and, like Sutton, the Hoops fans are seriously concerned with what they are watching from their team recently.
Their form has been yo-yo-ing for the past two months. Ever since the rousing 6-0 win over Aberdeen, Celtic just have not been the same side. There has been no hint of that attacking side since then and that is a worry.

Even the rocket that Rodgers delivered at halftime in the 3-1 win over St Johnstone seems long forgotten about now as Celtic couldn’t even muster any kind of fightback against Hearts.
And that will concern the fans the most. A defeat they can take, but the manner of it has sent alarm bells ringing as they ponder just how can they defeat their closest rivals at the end of the month when they cannot take care of a team sitting fifth in the Scottish Premiership.
Rodgers has a lot of work to do as many of the fans who were convinced that he was right to come back could now start to turn on him.
