Nick Ramsdale has shared when he thinks his son’s next start for Arsenal will be as David Raya continues his run in the side.

Aaron Ramsdale’s dad has been speaking on Highbury Squad and opened up about his son’s struggles this season.

Ramsdale has lost his place in Mikel Arteta’s side after the arrival of David Raya over the summer.

The 25-year-old hasn’t started in the Premier League since the 3-1 win over Manchester United in August and he’s yet to make his Champions League debut.

Of course, the Englishman was an integral part of the Arsenal side last season and the decision to bring a new shot-stopper raised eyebrows.

Indeed, Jamie O’Hara believes Arteta’s treatment of Ramsdale has knocked his confidence.

Now, Ramsdale’s dad has been speaking about his son’s situation and believes his next start will come against Brentford next weekend as Raya will be unable to play.

Speaking on Monday Madness, Nick Ramsdale was asked if there was any transparency from the club over the decision to drop him out of the side.

“No,” he answered. “We didn’t have a clue, I didn’t have a clue, Aaron didn’t have a clue that he was not going to carry on playing.

“All of a sudden he’s not being played. Mr Arteta came out and said ‘I’ve got two number-one goalkeepers, I will rotate them’. And he’s rotated them when it’s the Carabao Cup.

“The next game will be Brentford because David Raya can’t play, unless Karl Hein plays.”

Kevin Campbell then added: “Karl Hein isn’t playing above Aaron, come on! No chance!”

“Well, it depends after the podcast Kevin,” Ramsdale’s dad added. “Then you’ve got the FA Cup, the third round.

“You just have to look at it and again, it is me talking personally I’m probably talking too much, but Aaron is going to be the cup goalkeeper and Raya’s going to be the main man. Unless something happens, an injury or a sending-off.

“Aaron’s got to live with that and he is living with that even though he’s not been told it, by anybody.”

It will be interesting to see how Nick Ramsdale’s comments go down at Arsenal and you’d imagine Arteta won’t be happy with the interview.

Ramsdale’s dad is clearly disappointed with the way his son has been treated this season and it’s easy to understand why.

The goalkeeper barely put a foot wrong before losing his place to Raya. But you’d imagine that Arteta would have preferred to keep things behind closed doors.
