'All is forgiven if he pulls this one off': Some Everton fans react to hearing Benitez wants £35m star
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from 90min claiming that Rafa Benitez has asked the Toffees to target Kalidou Koulibaly this summer.
Benitez is getting to grips with his new surroundings at Goodison Park. And according to 90min, he wants to strengthen his defence.
The 30-year-old was signed by the Spaniard while he was in charge at Napoli. And with the Serie A side, he had established himself as one of the world’s best defenders.
The report noted that he could cost just £35 million having previously been valued at around £100 million at his peak.
And it appears that most Everton fans would love to see a move for Koulibaly take place.
One or two even suggested that signing the Senegal international would see fans accept Benitez amid the controversy surrounding his appointment earlier this summer.
‘Would be a great signing’: Everton fans excited as Benitez eyes Koulibaly
Admittedly, Koulibaly may no longer be at his peak. But many clearly think that paying £35 million would be an excellent piece of business.
With that in mind, here is how some of the Everton fans have reacted to the reports…
Benitez signed him originally. Koulibaly reckons Rafa was instrumental in his development. Jags did pretty well at 30. Never lose the quality maybe a bit of pace. It’s about reading the game and Koulibaly’s experience could benefit through the squad. It’s a YES from me. NSNO.

Isn’t he about 30? If so that’s a bit old for a defender

Him and Godfrey would be solid like

That would be quite something

This one, I’d be happy with. 30 is no age for a defender, still has 4/5 good years left.
But get rid of Holgate and Keane too, please. https://t.co/ldeOQcN1PT

Would be a great signing at the right price. My only concern is that he is a defender that relies on pace and power … he loses a yard of pace and he could be bang average in 3 years. Zouma is the shout for me

Still has 5 years left at the very highest level in my opinion
