Liverpool host Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League tonight – hoping for their first win of this year’s tournament. But the Austrian side will be gunning for a shock result against the Champions League title holders.

RB Salzburg have one clear danger man in their ranks. Everyone seems to know about Erling Braut Haaland – son of former Leeds and Manchester City midfielder Alfe-Inge. The towering 19-year-old is a prolific striker and Liverpool will be well aware of him.

But while all eyes will be directed towards Haaland, Liverpool must do their due diligence on Dominik Szoboszlai too. The young midfielder cannot be underestimated. Here’s why.

Both Szoboszlai and Haaland are already in form this season. Haaland stole the headlines with a hat-trick in RB Salzburg’s 6-2 win over KRC Genk. But Szoboszlai also got on the scoresheet that night.

The 18-year-old scored just before half-time to make it 5-1 to RB Salzburg. He now has three goals and three assists in 10 matches this season, adding to his burgeoning reputation.

Arsenal want Szoboszlai

Szoboszlai has caught the eye of admirers in Europe already. Arsenal will reportedly send scouts to watch the teenager in action against Liverpool tonight, as per The Mirror.

The Gunners want to bring Szoboszlai to England at the end of this season. If he impresses against Liverpool, Unai Emery’s men might face some heavy competition for his signature.

Next Mane and Keita?

RB Salzburg have earned a reputation for producing some talented players in the recent past. The Austrian club is a stepping stone that a number of players have taken in their career.

Naby Keita and Sadio Mane are two such examples. Both spent time with RB Salzburg before their respective next steps. Haaland and Szoboszlai could be the next two top players off the RB Salzburg conveyor belt.
