Alisson Becker says Liverpool 19-year-old has been superb in training
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has praised fellow Reds stopper Marcelo Pitaluga.
The 19-year-old joined Liverpool in October 2020 from Fluminense for a reported £1million.
Pitaluga worked with Alisson’s brother Muriel at the Brazilian club in 2019-20.
Last Wednesday, the teenager made the Liverpool bench for the Carabao Cup clash with Leicester.
Pitaluga was also in the matchday squad for the Preston cup clash and the Premier League meeting with Newcastle.
As well as impressing for Liverpool at age level, Pitaluga routinely trains with the Reds senior team.
And Alisson likes how well his young compatriot is doing at Anfield.
“Yeah, Marcelo is really talented,” Alisson told the Liverpool media team.
“I saw him a few times back in Brazil, but I could know more about him here as a goalie and as a person as well.
“He is a really special boy, he is really excited about having the opportunity to play for Liverpool.
Now he has settled in and is doing really well in training.
He is a boy who trains really hard and is really dedicated for what he is doing. And someone who likes to learn as well.
“So it is really good to work together with him, not only for being Brazilian but for being a really good talent and such a good person.”
John Achterberg played a big part in getting Pitaluga to Liverpool.
Two months ago, he also said he’s happy with the player’s efforts in training so far.
“Technically he has a lot of good qualities and hopefully he can make the next steps,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
