Alfredo Morelos has been speaking about his international hopes this week. With Colombia appointing Carlos Queiroz as their new manager the bullish striker is hoping to catch the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson’s former Manchester United assistant.

Speaking to Colombian Radio, as reported by the Scottish Sun, he stated his hope that the new Los Cafeteros boss will be putting in a call to Steven Gerrard.

“Everyone knows that Carlos Queiroz is a very good manager and with the Copa America in Brazil this year, I want to do everything possible to get his attention.

“Hopefully, he will get in touch with my manager Steven Gerrard.”

Morelos is undoubtedly talented enough to become a regular for his country. This season he has been outstanding under Gerrard. Since the Liverpool legend’s arrival at Ibrox the striker appears to have kicked into an extra gear.

So caps should be forthcoming for a player who made his Colombia debut v Venezuela last year.

However, it is also fairly obvious that there is one aspect of his game that he must address before he gets an extended chance with his nation.

The Rangers striker’s disciplinary record this season has proven to be atrocious. He recently picked up his fourth red card of the season and the hard task-master that is Queiroz will simply not stand for that sort of ill-discipline.

If he can curb his temper in Glasgow then trips to Bogota, Medellin and Cali are likely to be on the horizon for the Rangers star.

If not, then he might have to bide his time.
