Alfredo Morelos suggests Rangers form will lead to Premier League move

Alfredo Morelos has suggested, in comments reported by The Scottish Sun, that he knows that he needs to keep scoring for Rangers if he is going to earn a move to the Premier League in the future.

Morelos appears to have been linked with a move away from Ibrox on a regular basis. He has proved to be an inspired signing for the Gers, scoring 37 Scottish Premiership goals in 73 appearances.

Morelos’s return of 14 goals in 19 games this season has seen the 23-year-old recalled to the Colombia squad for this international break. And ahead of their games with Chile and Algeria, the youngster made it clear that his ultimate goal is to get himself a future move to the Premier League.

“Things have gone really well for me at Rangers this season. I’ve scored in just about every game for them,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun. “It’s not a secret that I admire the English Premier League.

“I have to keep scoring goals for Rangers if I am ever to get a chance of moving to a club there.”

TBR’s View

Rangers fans may not be surprised by Morelos’s comments. His departure has arguably been on the cards since the moment he scored six goals in his first six league games for the club.

Nevertheless, it will still disappoint the fans that he has reiterated his desire to play elsewhere. And based on the improvement that he has shown so far this season, they may fear that his exit may come sooner than expected.

While his goalscoring ability has never been in doubt, Morelos has, so far, shown a lot more discipline. He is yet to be carded in a domestic game this term, with four yellow cards coming in the Europa League.

It appears that it is becoming a much smaller risk to target Morelos. And that, unfortunately, may not be good news for Rangers in the long-term.
