Alfie Hughes has posted on Instagram after completing a move that sees the 16-year-old midfielder leave Manchester United for bitter rivals Leeds United.

The youngster had been playing for Middlesbrough until 2018 before Manchester United opted to take on the youngster. Now, he has swapped clubs again, moving to Leeds.

It has been a busy week at Elland Road. The first team have landed Jack Harrison, Ben White and Helder Costa, while Jack Clarke has returned on loan after completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, the Under-23 side have made a double signing from Barcelona in Rafa Mujica and Guille Amor, as well as Liam McCarron. Hughes has posted on Instagram, as he looks set to link up with Mark Jackson’s Under-18 side.

TBR’s view – Young Leeds signings beginning to pay off

Another example of Leeds bringing in a young player, Hughes has every right to be confident of breaking into the Under-23 side and the senior team in years to come.

Under Marcelo Bielsa last season, a whole host of young players were given first-team debuts and involved in matchday squads. Victor Orta’s faith in bringing in young, talented players is beginning to pay off.

Orta has brought in the likes of Ryan Edmondson, Kun Temenuzhkov, Mateusz Bogusz, Pascal Struijk and more. They are all in and around the senior side, and that is proof the system works.
