Alfie Devine has posted on Instagram after the 16-year-old midfielder came off the bench to score his first Tottenham Hotspur goal on his debut against Marine – and both Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga have reacted.

Devine, 16, joined Tottenham in the summer from Wigan Athletic after the Latics had been forced to cash in on some of their assets due to financial issues. Devine was bought for a fee of £500,000, as per the Evening Standard.

He has since starred despite his tender age. Breaking into the Tottenham Under-23 team, Devine has remained first choice in the second string after netting against Derby on his reserve debut in Premier League 2.

He went one better on Sunday. Spurs cruised to a 5-0 win over Marine, and Devine scored the only goal of the second half – brilliantly cutting inside from the left and lashing an effort in at the near post. He posted on Instagram.

Devine has certainly made waves since joining Spurs. In a recent PL2 match, Devine was sent off for a horror tackle on Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater, which saw the ex-England man also sent off for an angry reaction at Devine.

But it was a much better night for Tottenham’s number 54 on Sunday evening, and he earned many plaudits after the match – not least from Tanganga and Sessegnon who congratulated the teenage midfielder on his post.
